Interesting. However, I don’t pretty understand why would chicken need teeth? They eat tiny grains which are just swallowed.

That’s just it. They don’t need teeth. But as they evolved from species that did need them, chicken’s gene pools still have that gene slumbering somewhere.
It is activated through mutation, or through manipulation by man.
