Panasonic DMC-FZ18: 28-504mm

Another great looking camera. Or at least on paper. It has the same impressive 28-504mm zoom range as on the Olympus SP550.
We’ll have to wait until the reviews, before we know if the 8 million pixels can create the stunning images we are promised…

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 review

Currently, I believe this is the best digital camera on the market if your looking for an affordable compact camera that has a wide angle and big zoom, and if you don’t care too much about manual control.

Fitting a 28-280mm lens (10x zoom) on such a small device is a feat worth noting, and the fact that the sensor is bigger (8.5MP) than then the effective 7.1MP of the camera and thus able to keep the full frame when shooting in 3:2 or 16:9 modes, is just beautiful. As is the camera itself 🙂

Panasonic DMC-FZ8 vs Olympus SP-550UZ

Very interesting one-on-one comparison of these two recent superzoom digital cameras.
They are both a very good buy and complement each other well, with each of them having their clear strengths and weaknesses.
